EXTRA ACTIVITIES

Among the imperatives of our educational approach, the need to continually urge children to explore the external and internal world stands out, creating, moving, knowing. This certainly occurs through teaching in the strict sense, but also through the many and exclusive activities offered within our extra activities, in particular, in our afternoon courses.

AFTERNOON AND EXTRA COURSES

GUITAR, PIANO AND SOLFEGGIO, VIOLIN

Music is a precious way to ‘unplug’, but also to re-encode daily emotions by transforming them into sounds. The music courses also enrich culturally, with a language devoid of linguistic and geographical limits, contribute to acquire a better coordination capacity, stimulate creativity, get used to the sense of rigor and discipline. The guitar course is aimed at children from 6 to 10 years; that of piano and solfeggio to children from 5 to 10 years, as well as that of violin.

ENGLISH COURSES

Since October 2015, the Serena Andersen Institute organizes afternoon English language courses for children aged 3 to 10, with a view to further enhancing their language skills.
The teachers, qualified native speakers with the skills necessary to provide children with the best language learning experience, will involve them in games and activities aimed at stimulating learning in a peaceful and fun context.

CERAMICS COURSE

Our ceramics course teaches children how to perceive materials, and to mold them, smiling and marvelling at the work of their own original creativity. This course is open to children from the age of 5 and above.

PHOTOGRAPHY

“Imagine” is a photography and image education workshop aimed at children aged 6 to 11. A theoretical and practical project whose purpose is to teach children to use photography as a means of communication. A very powerful medium, because the image allows you to communicate in a strong and immediate way. The moment it is seen, it also allows you to perceive the message it brings. The particular strength of the photographic instrument also adds the universality of the language that it allows to express, without linguistic and geographical limits. The course, directed by Renata D’Alessandro, professional photographer, includes 12 afternoon lessons.

JUDO

Judo is a sports discipline through which it is possible to contribute to the personal development of children, favoring, in particular, the acquisition of the concept of respect for others and strengthening courage as an inner strength that allows participants to face their limits, their fears and their defeats. The course is aimed at children aged 4 to 10 years.

PLAY-DANCE

The afternoon play-dance course gives children the opportunity to acquire rhythm, posture, conception of space and self-discipline with playful and expressive activities. Through play, dance becomes an instrument capable of expressing moving emotions and ideas in an artistic, but above all spontaneous way. The course is aimed at all children of the Institute from 3 to 10 years old.

MINI TENNIS AND MINI VOLLEY

The afternoon mini tennis and mini volleyball courses are pleasant, fun and stimulating activities, where children develop the basic motor patterns of these sports disciplines in a playful and preparatory way for tennis and volleyball. The courses, held in our large and well-equipped gym, are open to all children of the Institute from 5 to 10 years old.

SKATING

The skating course takes place in our gym. Roller skating, or roller skating, involves the use of roller skates with four wheels, parallel two by two. The course aims to improve the balance of children and their motor skills. Skating start-up schemes are always focused on pleasant and playful methods. The course is open to all children of the Institute from 5 to 10 years old.

CORRECT POSTURE

This is an initiative that provides advice from external professional operators. The project, reserved for pupils of third and fourth primary school, foresees:

a) theoretical information lessons on the body’s bone structure;
b) practical breathing lessons, on the mobilization of the spine, on the correct position of how to sit, on the correct lifting of the weights, on relaxation.

The aim of the project is to help children pay attention to their back in order to prevent pain and acquire the ability to implement self-relaxation techniques. In the years following the first, the project foresees moments of reflection for the maintenance of the techniques learned.

YOGA FOR CHILDRE

Yoga for children is a way to integrate their training, also allowing a greater physical and character balance. Yoga practice has a significant impact:

a) physical, as it strengthens the skeletal structure, improves breathing, flexibility and motor coordination;
b) behavioral, because it develops patience, tranquility, constancy, security and tends to channel aggression and energies into commitment.

The practice of this discipline, performed in a playful version, acts on psycho-physical well-being, allowing the child to identify and enhance their abilities. The course is aimed at children aged 4 to 10 years.

BOOK CLUB

The Book Club represents a much more intense reading experience than the ordinary one, as within the Club, reading is characterized by sharing, discussion and reflection, leading to a deeper personal growth, because “The mindful readers, who exchange and discuss their opinions go further than the author” [Voltaire]. An oasis in which to give space to an intimate emotional evolution, which opposes the current frenetic rhythms and nourishes the soul.

Cambridge

The Serena Andersen School has an international character. From linguistic and cultural openness to the centrality (but not exclusivity) of the English language; internationality has always characterized the Institute in particular.

The intensity of the commitment grows and the objectives are enriched once they reach the nursery school, divided, according to our educational plan, into four sections, marked by different age groups, which range from 3 to 6 years.

The transition from Kindergarten to Primary School is also particularly delicate, being characterized by the even more intense evolution in the growth, education and education of pupils, who will travel the new path fed by the fundamental principles of school life and by the lessons learned in previous years, especially in the Transition phase.

Extra and Services

AFTERNOON AND EXTRA COURSES

Among the imperatives of our educational approach, the need to continually urge children to explore the external and internal world stands out, creating, moving, knowing. This certainly occurs through teaching in the strict sense, but also through the many and exclusive activities offered within our extra activities, in particular, in our afternoon courses.

ANDERSEN PLAY&PARTY

The service offered by Andersen Play & Party, managed with passion by our baby party Planner, Lucia, deeply inspired by the pedagogical philosophy of the Serena Andersen School, was born with the specific objective of making each party a unique experience.

SUMMER CAMP

Serena Summer Camp represents a service aimed at children between 3 and 12 years of age, to spend some time with a summer flavor together, with the aim of having fun, but also of studying, albeit with the lightness that the summer brings.

BUS SCHOOL

A shuttle service is available upon request, which reaches different locations, for a fee. The school bus has an assistant on board.

CAFETERIA

We believe that food affects the health, growth, education and lifestyle ofchildren in an extremely significant way. It is therefore our priority to give importance to the role assumed by the school canteen: it not only provides the main meal of the day, but also and above all the opportunity to get to know and experience healthy nutrition. Thus, the time of school meals is considered by us in all respects an educational moment.
